Pilot and passenger of home-made craft, a Langley couple, escaped with no injuries

A small helicopter crashed into a farmers field in Langley off Glover Rd near Mufford Crescent just north of the airport around 6 p.m. Saturday.

Langley RCMP reported an emergency landing of a helicopter that was operated by a 55- year-old Langley man with his wife on board as the sole passenger.

The helicopter ended up on its side.

The couple did not suffer any injuries and were cleared by Emergency Health Services.

A small amount of fuel did leak from the helicopter, but there were no other people or property affected by the accident, the police said.

The helicopter was described as homemade and ‘experimental’.

The Transportation Safety Board has been notified.
