Crews responded to a structure fire on Glen Lake Road in Langford Monday night.
Fire crews arrived at the scene, near Glen Lake Road and Haslam Avenue, around 8:15 p.m. to see “significant fire” burning in the top part of the house. The crew then made their way inside to extinguish the blaze and search for residents.

According to Lance Caven, assistant chief of fire prevention, the single occupant of the home made it out safely.
Langford Fire Rescue, Colwood Fire Rescue and View Royal Fire Rescue all responded, although Caven was unsure about the exact number of firefighters.
Just before 9:30 p.m., a nearby resident said the fire was reportedly out.

The same resident said the fire was started by a space heater but Langford Fire Rescue was unable to confirm any details at the time.
Caven will be heading back to the site on Tuesday morning to begin investigating the cause. He says at this time the fire is not suspicious.
