UPDATED: Motorcycle rider airlifted after Mission crash

A motorcyclist was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries Thursday evening, after a collision with another vehicle.

At around 6 p.m., Mission RCMP, firefighters and B.C. Ambulance paramedics were called to North Railway Avenue, across from Storage for Life for the accident.

Mission RCMP Sgt. Miriam Dickson said a motorcycle was heading eastbound on North Railway Avenue, behind a Toyota 4-Runner. When the truck went to make a left turn into the business, the rider passed on the left side and hit the vehicle’s bumper.

Speed and alcohol are not factors, she said.

The air ambulance landed at Windebank Elementary School’s field, taking the rider to hospital.

Mission Fire/Rescue Service’s ladder truck was used late that night to assist the RCMP’s Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service in getting photos from the elevated platform, said Asst. Chief Larry Watkinson.
