A man caught on camera believed to be dumping trash on the side of Brighton Avenue on Nov. 26 has identified himself to Oak Bay police and said it was a misunderstanding.
On Thursday afternoon, a resident told police they’d seen two men pull up in an older white Ford F-150 and dump five garbage bags on the side of the road in the 2000-block of Brighton Avenue.
The men told the neighbour who called police that they were with Amazon but the bags were filled with trash and police are looking to identify the men involved.

The caller snapped a photo of the men dumping garbage bags on Thursday and police released the image in an effort to identify the suspects. By Friday evening, one man in the photo had identified himself and explained that there was a misunderstanding. According to police, the man said someone else was responsible and was able to identify the other individual.
“There was a misunderstanding involved so we will not be pursuing charges against any person in this case,” Chief Ray Bernoties explained on Nov. 27.
Had a littering ticket been issued, it would have cost the suspects $81.
