Accident occurred at intersection of Highway 6 and Middleton Way

UPDATED FRIDAY, JAN. 19, 7:50 A.M.:

Vernon-North Okanagan RCMP are investigating a pedestrian struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Highway 6 and Middleton Way in Vernon Thursday.

Shortly after 5 p.m., police responded to find a pedestrian – a 24-year-old Vernon woman – being treated by emergency crews.

The victim sustained minor injuries but was taken to Vernon Jubilee Hospital for precaution.

“Police are still investigating the collision and continue to interview the persons involved,” said RCMP spokesperson Const. Kelly Brett. “The driver of the vehicle remained on-scene and is cooperating with investigators.. Cause is still yet to be determined, however, it is a good reminder to motorists to slow down and pay extra attention to the road when the conditions are icy.”

The woman was released from hospital shortly after she was transported.

Emergency personnel respond to the scene of an accident involving a pedestrian and vehicle at the intersection of Highway 6 and Middleton Way shortly after 5 p.m. Thursday.

The incident caused minor traffic delays in the area.
