The front entrance of Langley Memorial Hospital was temporarily closed down on Wednesday evening as police dealt with a man who had climbed onto the hospital facade.
The front entrance of the hospital was taped off starting just before 6 p.m.
Langley RCMP and firefighters arrived to deal with the psychiatric patient.
The man had climbed onto the facade, about 12 to 14 feet above the ground, according to Langley Township Fire Department deputy chief Russ Jenkins.
Police managed to talk the man down.
“They were able to de-escalate it, and he accepted medical help,” said Cpl. Holly Largy, spokesperson for the Langley RCMP.
Firefighters were there as a precaution only, said Jenkins.
Even during the incident, the hospital was not closed. Reports said that patients were being allowed in and out through other entrances to the building.
A Fraser Health spokesperson said there was no impact to hospital operations.
