Vancouver police are looking for anyone who may have cellphone footage of the fight that broke out outside a nightclub on Granville Street.
Kalwinder Thind, 23, who worked at the Cabana Lounge at 1159 Granville, tried to intervene when a fight between two groups spilled out into the street early Saturday morning. Thind was badly hurt, and later died in hospital.
“The evidence suggests that several people have photos and recordings of the events before, during and after this incident,” Sgt. Jason Robillard said in a news release Monday.
“They have uploaded edited footage to various social media sites, but have yet to come forward to police. It’s important for our detectives to see the unedited footage – it could be crucial to the investigation.”
Five people were arrested and released. No charges have been laid.
“This incident appears to be an isolated fight, fueled by alcohol, that got out of hand,” Robillard said. “We need to talk to the people involved as soon as possible.”
Any witnesses, or anyone with video, is asked to call detectives at 604-717-2500 or to call Crime Stoppers.
