UPDATED: Trans-Canada Highway re-opens at 11 pm.Saturday night east of Sicamous

A collision closed the highway between approximately 6 p.m. and 11 p.m.Saturday, Feb. 25.

Update:

The Trans-Canada Highway re-opened to traffic Saturday in both directions as of 11 p.m. Saturday.

The highway had been closed since approximately 6 p.m. due to an accident.

There is no word on the condition of the people involved in the vehicle incident.

Drive BC is reporting the vehicle incident took place eight to 10 kilometres east of Sicamous.

It is not known how long the highway will be closed.

A member of the public who contacted the Observer while stopped on the highway says they have been informed the incident was a fatality but this is not confirmed at this time.

The driver who is waiting in traffic, says they were told that they would likely be stopped for more than four hours.

Weather conditions are said to be poor.

An ambulance was also sent to the scene.
