A driver was rescued on Monday after her Toyota SUV ended up down a steep 40-foot slope on Sumas Mountain in Abbotsford.

Abbotsford Fire Rescue Service and BC Ambulance crews were called out at about noon to the area of Upper Sumas Mountain Road and Jamison Road.

The driver, a woman in her 20s, was conscious and was communicating with emergency dispatchers immediately after the crash and with crews during her rescue.

Crews were able to make their way down to the woman and bring her up to the road on a backboard. She was then taken to hospital by ambulance.
