RCMP investigate serious head on collision in Langford

Sooke Road remains closed in both directions between Happy Valley and Luxton roads as West Shore RCMP investigate what they are calling a serious head on collision. They estimate the closure will last four to five hours.

The accident occurred in the 2700-block of Sooke Road in Langford around 8:40 a.m. It is believed that the white Pontiac Sunfire was travelling east on Sooke Road when it collided with a Shaw utility vehicle. The driver of the utility vehicle escaped without visible injuries, said a RCMP news release. The woman driving the Sunfire, in her mid 40s, was taken to hospital by BC Ambulance with serious injuries.

An RCMP traffic analyst has been contacted to assess the scene for evidence collection. RCMP are urging motorists to avoid the area.
