Upgrades to Vavenby Community Hall

TNRD has approved spending up to $80,000 from federal gas tax funding to upgrade Vavenby Community Hall

Thompson-Nicola Regional District board of directors has approved spending up to $80,000 from federal gas tax revenues to upgrade the roof, siding, insulation, exterior doors, lighting, and bathroom fixtures at Vavenby Community Hall.

TNRD owns Vavenby Community Hall and it is operated through a combination of the Wells Gray Country services committee (WGCSC) and the services coordinator for Wells Gray Country (Area A). In late 2010 the hall’s boiler system was replaced with gas tax funding.

Proposed in addition to the items noted above are other interior finishing upgrades including floor replacement. Wells Gray Country services committee, at a meeting on Oct. 29, passed a resolution to allocate $60,000 in reserve funds towards this project. Total project cost is estimated at $140,000.

Also during their Nov. 10 meeting the TNRD directors approved an expenditure from federal gas tax funds to a maximum of $15,000 to provide funding for communications upgrades to the Vavenby community water system
