Worried about your bike being stolen? There’s an app for that.
Each year B.C. police send thousands of recovered stolen bikes to auctions or charities because they could not determine bikes’ ownership. With the app Garage 529 that may all change.
Within five minutes, Garage 529 can track a bike and send back all the critical information to its owner. This can help people to ensure a claim with their insurance and help with recovery efforts with the police.

Kamloops RCMP will be giving out a free tamper-proof 529 sticker, which deters thieves by showing that the bike is traceable. Registration events will be held in the city throughout summer.
This weekend April 21, in the River Beaver Race at the bottom of the bike Ranch in Juniper, police officers and Auxiliary officers will be filing bikes from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Anyone who wants to secure their bike is welcome to attend and to be registered.
Also, residents can register their bike using the Garage 529 app and contact Const. Sofie Winkels at sofie.winkels@rcmp-grc.gc.ca to access the free tamper-proof sticker.
