A gas leak led to the evacuation of the Saunders building at the University of Victoria at noon on Monday.
A gas leak has been reported near the Saunders Building at UVic. Occupants of Saunders, Saunders Annex and Technology Enterprise Facility have been evacuated. Others should avoid the area. We will update this notice as information becomes available at: https://t.co/4pxnnum3ZK

Construction compromised a natural gas line which led to a significant smell of rotten eggs in the area. Employees were permitted to return to the Saunders building a little before 1 p.m.

Saanich Police and Saanich Fire responded and temporarily blocked a lane along McKenzie Avenue, close to the intersection with Finnerty Road.
