Traffic was still blocked on 152 Street between King George Boulevard and 29 Avenue Wednesday afternoon after a early-morning single-vehicle crash Wedensday.
A BC Hydro power pole is down on the west side of the road and emergency crews were on the scene.
A southbound van hit the pole shortly after 7 a.m. – shearing it in two. The top half of the pole was left suspended across the power lines.
The van also hit a tree and ended up in the yard of a boarded-up house just north of King George Boulevard.
The driver told police he swerved to avoid a pedestrian, however officers were unable to locate the pedestrian at the scene.
Power was out west to Semiahmoo Trail, south of Highway 99, affecting more than 500 homes and businesses. It was estimated power would return late Wednesday afternoon, and the damage was expected to take hours to repair.
There were three people in the van and no reported injuries.
