The Vancouver International Auto Show is just over a month away, and this year’s event promises to be unlike any other in its history.
So says Blair Qualey, president and CEO of the New Car Dealers Association of BC (Newcardealers.ca).
The auto show, presented by the New Car Dealers Association of BC from March 24 to 29 at the Vancouver Convention Centre, is British Columbia’s showcase for car and truck enthusiasts. It is the largest automotive event in Western Canada.
"Guests who have attended in the past might not recognize this year’s event, which will be bigger and better than in previous years," Qualey wrote in a column for the Vancouver Sun.
"Not only will this year’s event take up 25 per cent more room, growing to about 300,000 square feet of ballroom space, but it will also include many never-before-seen features and highlights. The focus on vehicles and various consumer lifestyles is guaranteed to charge up your show experience."
Vehicles to be showcased at the auto show this year include a 100-per-cent electric Bigfoot monster truck and a million-dollar classic convertible. Other special attractions include a life-size Hot Wheels car and the Volkswagen Playcare Centre.
Guests can check out the latest models from a wide range of manufacturers, including exotic and luxury brands such as Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren, Porsche, Rolls-Royce and more.
The show will also celebrate one of North America’s most iconic cars, and unique Hollywood North displays will show off vehicles used on movie and television sets in Metro Vancouver.
Qualey says another must-see display will be the Automotive Journalists of Canada exhibit, and the announcement of the Green Car of the Year award.
Also returning this year is the wildly popular Green Ride and Drive event, where guests and members of the public get a chance to drive some of the latest environmentally friendly vehicles.
