Vanderhoof business can apply for a facade improvement program

The program provides funding up to $5,000 to update the look of the commercial property façade.

In an effort to improve the look and feel of commercial property façade, the district is providing 50 percent funding, up to $5,000, to applicants through the Business Facade Improvement Program.

Projects must have a minimum total cost of $2,000 to be eligible. Deadline for applications is May 31, however, applications may be considered after the deadline if funds haven’t been entirely disbursed.

Eligible upgrades include lighting, windows, painting or siding, signage and accessibility improvements will be considered in applications.

“The goal of the Vanderhoof Business Façade Improvement Program is to make Vanderhoof commercial areas more inviting to visitors and residents, increased assessed property values, promote private sector investment, build civic pride, and to stimulate the local economy,” as stated in the program’s application guide and form.

Ineligible applicants include government-owned buildings; properties outside the district; non-operating business; businesses who previously received a grant under this program for subject property; apartment buildings.

The grant will be distributed on a first-come-first-serve basis.

The program is funded by Northern Development Initiatives Trust and administered through the District.
