There is a new program in Vanderhoof allowing seniors to get meals delivered to them during the virus pandemic, and the non-profit organizing this service wants to get the word out to seniors in the community.
The service called Meals on Wheels is an initiative by Connexus and they started this paid service in April.
The meals are cooked out of Riverside Place and delivered to the seniors in the community, Sandra Ferguson, social housing manager for Connexus told the Omineca Express.
Seniors in the community get the same meal being cooked a Riverside Place for its residents.
“We have guidelines through Northern Health so the meals are all nutritious meals,” Ferguson said.
Currently, the non-profit is delivering ten meals a day to seniors in the community.
“We feel that Meals on Wheels is great for our community as it helps the seniors get the meals they need and they also get the right type of meal,” she said.
