Vanderhoof RCMP respond to sexual and domestic assaults

Files reported to the Vanderhoof RCMP between November 25 and December 2, 2011.

On November 28 at 5:45 p.m., RCMP were called to a residence on Douglas Street to deal with a domestic assault. A man and a woman  had been assaulted and a male suspect had fled on foot. RCMP contacted the police dog unit in Prince George. The canine unit attended and a dog was able to follow a track and located a man in a wooded area nearby.

The man complied and was taken into custody. He was then transported in Prince George to await a court appearance.

RCMP were called to assist an ambulance at 1:30 a.m. on Thursday in the area. A woman had been sexually assaulted and was seriously injured. On Thursday evening RCMP arrested a local man in his forties in relation to the the assault. He will appear in court in Prince George on Monday.
