During the show held Feb. 18 – Feb. 20, viewers got a chance to see updates by donors about kids they helped in 2020.

“This truly was the Show of Hearts with British Columbians once again opening their hearts to help make a difference in the lives of B.C.’s kids with special needs,” said Cally Wesson, CEO of Variety B.C.

“And it is because of their incredible generosity that we will be able to help even more kids. We are just so extremely appreciative that we can now say ‘yes’ to every child needing our help and that no child will be turned away. Thank you B.C.,” she added.

The event featured Karista Barr, a seven-year old Fraser Lake resident, who was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes two years ago. Karista’s mother Nancy Lougheed said she had a positive experience.

“They have been very helpful, answered any and all questions we asked,” Lougheed said.

Lougheed appreciates the show having an online as well as TV option, which proved convenient for those who don’t have cable.

The non-profit organisation has distributed over $33 million in funding across B.C. since 2010.

Donors can still donate online at variety.bc.ca or by texting “KIDS” to 45678 to make an automatic $20 contribution.
