The morning of Easter Sunday, March 27, there was an Easter egg hunt at Vavenby Community Hall.

Vavenby Trails and Recreation Society put it on, with organization by Barb Pennell.

As well as the hunt, there was a colouring contest and an Easter bonnet contest, also organized by Pennell.

The weather wasn’t the best but it didn’t rain and it didn’t stop the approximately 20 eager pickers from turning up.

It was good to see all of those happy children running around with so much energy, searching for more eggs but sharing them as well.

Cate Lin Tourond was the winner of the bonnet contest for ages nine and under because she was the only child wearing one. Pennell won for the 10 and over because she also was the only person in her category wearing a bonnet.

Tourond won a basket with chocolates, a butterfly net, a stuffie, etc.

Winners for the colouring contest were Teagan Easson for the five and under age group, Mercy Flegel for the six to nine age group. and Dayton Flegel for the 10 and over.

For all age groups, their Easter basket prizes were full of chocolates; the younger group received a stuffed rabbit and rabbit ears, etc.; with a bug keeper and stuffie for the middle group; and a purse/pencil case, mug, etc for the older age group.

Shower for new baby

On Monday, March 21, Debbie Planeta hosted a community baby shower at Vavenby Christian Church for baby 2 womenShanna Boyes and new baby girl Amelia June Marie Dunne.

Twenty women attended and supplied a lot of delicious finger foods.

A couple of Boyes’ friends came from Clearwater to celebrate with her so, after everyone got some food, introductions were made by going around the tables.

After eating Boyes opened the gifts. There was a good variety of baby needs. There was also a money tree.
