Traffic was reduced to one lane southbound on highway 19A at the south end of Parksville Friday (May 18) due to an earlier vehicle incident.

A vehicle crashed into a power pole, knocking it down by the Parksville Gas N Go, just before 11 a.m. The female occupant of the vehicle, according to Parksville fire chief Marc Norris, got out of the vehicle on her own and was taken to the hospital for a precautionary check.

Both lanes were later opened heading northbound after an earlier closure.

RCMP, Parksville Volunteer Fire Department and B.C. Ambulance Service were on scene. Hydro crews were on scene replacing the pole.
