Vehicle smashes into car, hydro pole on Brooks Avenue in Chilliwack

Hydro pole broken in two, power lines down and road closed in residential area of Chilliwack

A hydro pole was broken in two when a car collided with it after hitting a car on Brooks Avenue in Chilliwack Wednesday afternoon.

The incident happened shortly before 1 p.m. when the driver of a black car travelling west on Brooks was hit by a light-coloured car travelling east as the black car tried to make a left turn onto Elm Drive, according to the driver of the black vehicle.

The lighter-coloured car then smashed into a hydro pole and landed in the driveway of a residence about 50 metres east of Elm Drive.

Power lines were hanging low across the intersection and the road was closed to traffic as a result of the collision.

The driver of the black vehicle did not suffer any serious injuries. The condition of the other driver is unknown.
