A reported disturbance at Lake City Casino Friday ended with an arrest later on in downtown Vernon.
RCMP officers were dispatched to the casino at 11:20 p.m. following a report of a patron with a weapon.
“Our officers attended and learned there was a minor altercation with a couple of people there,” said Vernon RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk. “The male suspect who was seen with the weapon left the area before police arrived.”
Witnesses told the officers that the suspect was headed to a bar downtown, so police went to the area and located a vehicle believed associated to the suspect.
“A few minutes later, the 32-year-old suspect returned to the car where he was arrested for possession of a weapon,” said Molendyk, adding that a taser was located on the ground next to a wheel of his vehicle.
There is no indication, said Molendyk, that the taser was used in the alleged altercation at the casino.
The Vernon man has since been released on a promise to appear in court.
