Straight from the school of business, a new face has joined the Greater Vernon Chamber of Commerce to assist businesses.
The Greater Vernon Chamber of Commerce is has hired Jamie Morrow as Sales and Business Development Manager. Morrow, who had been with Okanagan College School of Business for the past decade, joined the Chamber this week. He is a former mayoralty candidate (City of Vernon 2014) and has a deep understanding of business, politics, and the community. The chamber is eager to bring that combination of skill and experience on board to benefit chamber members and the business community.
“I am eager to get to work in helping the businesses in the area grow and prosper,” said Morrow. “I look forward to working with the local business community and collaborating with other organizations in the region in building a stronger local economy.”
“We’ve grown our membership base, increased our advocacy efforts, and added a couple new events and felt it would be timely to restructure the organization to better serve our members and the business community,” said Dan Rogers, chamber general manager. “We are pleased to welcome Jamie to the Chamber and look forward to his innovation in building our organization.”
As the full time sales and business development manager, Morrow joins Michael Tindall who was previously hired on a part time basis as a business development representative. In moving forward the chamber will look to contract out the management of its major events such as the Annual Business Excellence Awards.
The changes at the chamber extend beyond staff as the organization is also revamping its IT systems. The chamber will soon have a new website and associated membership management software that will provide a more robust website and system that will allow members easier access to e-commerce opportunities, business development information, and member to member communication.
