Dogs and owners are already looking forward to the second annual Doggie Duathlon.

The inaugural event Sunday fetched 27 participants and their four-legged friends with Chihuahuas to beagles to pitbulls to huskies to German shepherds and more to walk and swim.

The Doggie Duathlon, organized and sponsored by Shelly Korobanki of Pooch Partners, raised more than $400 towards the SPCA’s Paws for a Cause event in September.

“It was an amazing day with amazing people and fabulous dogs,” she said.

“Pooch Partners’ goal is to promote healthy activity for people and their pooches to do together and the Doggie Duathlon is a great way to have fun at the same time. There is really no better training partner than your pooch.”

The second annual Doggie Duathlon is scheduled for Aug. 11, 2013.
