Reading enthusiasts are getting some good news.
The Vernon branch of Okanagan Regional Library will fully reopen April 23 after flooding in February caused extensive damage on the main floor.
“We’re pretty excited,” said Michelle Rule, ORL communications manager.
“It’s opening quicker than we expected. The Stutters Restoration crew has been flying.”
Flooding occurred Feb. 10 after a pipe burst. Damage was caused to carpets, walls, furniture and some books.
Since then, most of the main floor has been closed off to the public and books and programs have only been available on the second floor.
“Our patrons have been really supportive of our staff during this time and we appreciate that,” said Rule.
The library will be closed as usual for the Easter weekend (Friday to Monday) as well as Tuesday to allow staff to restock the shelves.
With the full reopening of the branch, Wednesday story time and after-school board games will resume and there will be puppet plays April 25 at 3:30 p.m. and April 26 at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
