Three Vernon men were fined a total of $2,630 for poaching moose in the Haddo Lake area out of Lumby Nov. 17, and two of the animals were seized.

Conservation officer Ed Seitz said the men had a limited entry hunting permit for a cow/calf moose, but had already shot one when they then shot two more.

They received a total of 12 tickets for such offences as hunting during a closed season, unlawful possession of wildlife and exceeding their quota, he said.

One received tickets worth $1,700, another $700 and another $230.

“It was deliberate,” commented Seitz.
