UPDATED THURSDAY, JULY 19, 2 P.M.: RCMP have identified the motorcyclist as Nathan Halisheff of Clandonald, Alberta.
Police continue to investigate a fatal motorcycle accident near Vernon Tuesday.
A 33-year-old man from Clandonald, Alta., located nearly 60 kilometres northwest of Lloydminster, was killed after he fell off his bike entering Highway 97 northbound from Stickle Road shortly before 6:30 p.m.
“As he was entering the highway, the motorcyclist lost control of the bike, the driver was ejected and contact was made with a northbound pick-up pulling an RV in the slow lane,” said Vernon-North Okanagan RCMP Cpl. Gerry Kovacs Wednesday.
The motorcyclist, the lone occupant of the bike, was rushed to Vernon Jubilee Hospital but he had succumbed to his injuries.
The two occupants of the pick-up, a man and woman from B.C., outside of the Okanagan, said Kovacs, were shaken from the incident.
Road conditions were good at the time of the accident, and the investigation is being carried out by the RCMP’s North Okanagan Traffic Services and an accident reconstruction investigator.
The bike has been seized by RCMP and will undergo a mechanical inspection.
RCMP are asking for any witnesses to the collision or who noticed the vehicles prior to the crash to call the Vernon-North Okanagan detachment at 250-545-7171.
