Summer is a great time for hitting the road on your bike, but thieves are also on the prowl.
The Vernon RCMP received a number of complaints over the weekend about bicycles being stolen.
“They just keep happening,” said Cpl. Joe Leeson, with the local detachment.
According to Leeson, there is a need for residents to ensure that their private property, including bicycles, is secure.
“People need to lock them up or keep them inside,” he said, adding that briefly heading into the house can provide thieves with an opportunity.
“It can happen really quick.”
