Housing construction remains steady.
There were 12 housing starts in Vernon during June, down from 13 units during the same month in 2013.
All of the 12 starts were single-detached units.
“The housing starts trend levelled out, edging slightly lower in June as expected,” said Sarena Teakles, a Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation senior market analyst.
Year-to-date, there have been 95 housing starts in Vernon, up from 81 units during the same six-month period in 2013.
The 95 starts consist of 71 single-detached units and 24 multiple units.
