Above, veteran Joe Pringle, 93, of Westwold receives the French Légion d’Honneur award during a special luncheon at the Vedder Legion on Wednesday by Jean-Christophe Fleury, Consul General of France in Vancouver.
The order is the highest decoration in France, equivalent to the Order of Canada. Pringle, a paratrooper, dropped into Normandy on D-Day in 1944.
