Veteran tribute considered

Enderby wants to honour the men and women who served on behalf of Canada during conflict

Enderby wants to honour the men and women who served on behalf of Canada during conflict.

The city is considering naming a portion of Mill Avenue as Veterans Way although the official name would remain Mill.

“We want to honour our veterans year-round,” said Mayor Howie Cyr.

Discussions about the proposal will be held with the Royal Canadian Legion.

“I think our veterans would be honoured to have this bestowed on them,” said Cyr, adding that the city is moving ahead with capital upgrades to the road.

“It will be a nice street with sidewalks.”

Because Mill Avenue would remain the official name, maps would not have to be adjusted.

“It doesn’t impact businesses with a change in addresses,” said Cyr.
