VicPD launches arson investigation after suspicious fire in Esquimalt

The fire occurred in the 900-block of Devonshire Road at approximately 7:30 p.m. Thursday

A suspicious fire in Esquimalt Thursday evening led the Victoria Police Department to launch an arson investigation.

Building materials on fire were spotted at approximately 7:30 p.m. on March 7 near a dumpster in front of a construction-related business in the 900-block of Devonshire Road.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire quickly but deemed it suspicious and called police to investigate. There was no damage to the building.

According to VicPD, it is too early to say if this fire is related to a string of suspicious fires in recent weeks in Saanich and Victoria.

Investigators are asking anyone who may have noticed something suspicious in the area to contact them.
