A 25-year-old Abbotsford man has been charged in relation to a stabbing that occurred on Sunday afternoon during a family dispute.
Abiem Deng Deng was charged Tuesday with aggravated assault and breach of his conditions, which were set after he was charged with sexual assault last month and was released on bail.
The 26-year-old stabbing victim remains in stable condition after being airlifted to hospital following the incident at the home in the 1700 block of Jackson Street.
Const. Ian MacDonald said the Abbotsford Police Department received a call at 2:35 p.m. Sunday from someone living in the downstairs portion of the home, saying a family member was trying to come into his residence and he didn’t want him there.
MacDonald said the call was then disconnected and, while police were attempting to reconnect with the person, they received a second call reporting that a stabbing had occurred.
Police, Abbotsford Fire Rescue Service and BC Ambulance personnel arrived on the scene and located a man suffering from wounds to his chest and neck. He was airlifted to a Vancouver-area trauma centre.
