A 1996 E-One Titan fire truck nicknamed Red 6 has ended its career at the Victoria Airport Authority, and will soon be en route to the Republic of Maldives.
On the market for 18 months once it was declared surplus, or past its typical life expectancy, the VAA’s broker Carson Pacific finally found a buyer for the truck at an airport in the island nation.
Red 6 is currently being repainted, and is expected to be shipped off sometime in May, said James Bogusz, vice-president of operations and development for the VAA.
“Quite often these types of things will be sold to secondary markets,” he said, including smaller airports, mines and other industrial environments.
The 4×4 truck was listed at $75,000, and Bogusz said trucks will generally sell for 10 to 20 per cent of their value.
