Victoria man in suspicious death identified

Shaun Alexander McGregor's body was found in Begbie Street apartment

The victim of a suspicious death in Victoria last week has been identified as 34-year-old Shaun Alexander McGregor of Victoria.

The Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit was called into investigate after it was determined that the man’s death was suspicious.

Officers were called to the 1500-block of Begbie Street at approximately 7:30 p.m. on April 9 where they discovered McGregor’s body. He was pronounced dead on scene.

An autopsy is scheduled to determine the cause of death.

Investigators are also seeking the public’s assistance in locating Chelse Burns, a person of interest, who may have information that could further the ongoing investigation.

Anonymous tips can be shared through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Police are also continuing to investigate two other suspicious deaths.

On March 5, the body of Scott Owen Smith, 26, was found in the Inner Harbour, and Peter Hunter Thompson was found dead in his Michigan Street apartment on Feb. 18.
