Victoria police link violent home invasion to drug debt

Police searching for more suspects after Saanich man taken into custody downtown

A Saanich man was arrested following a violent home invasion in Saanich Monday night.

Just after 6 p.m., a 34-year-old Victoria man was targeted, for a drug debt owed, at his Victoria home in the 2900-block of Cedar Hill Rd., said Victoria police spokesperson Const. Mike Russell.

“The victim was sprayed with bear spray and beaten by three men wearing balaclavas,” Russell said. “The suspects fled in an older-model domestic sedan, which was spotted several hours later by officers downtown.”

Police stopped the vehicle and arrested a 38-year-old Saanich man and his 29-year-old female passenger, who was released without being charged.

The male suspect faces charges of break and enter, forcible confinement and assault with a weapon.

Police are looking for additional suspects in connection with the home invasion.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Victoria Police Department at 250-995-7654, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
