The Victoria Police Department responded to a report of a cougar in the 400-block of Kingston St. in James Bay this morning around 7:30 a.m.
Police conducted a search of the area and were unable to locate any cougars, said Const. Mike Russell.
In November 2012, there were three similar sightings reported in James Bay and Fairfield, but no cougars were ever found.
“In one of those cases, it turned out to be a large house cat of the same colour,” Russell said.
VicPD will continue to take all reported predator sightings seriously, he added.
