For local musicians who’ve wanted a chance to play a festival, and food truck vendors looking to expand their businesses, this could be their chance.
Every summer, there are various free outdoor concerts and activities at Centennial Square and Beacon Hill Park provided by the City of Victoria for the public. The City is updating its roster of pre-approved musicians and community programmers to perform and present at these venues from June to September 2018.
New this year, food truck vendors are also invited to sign up to operate at programmed concerts and events in Centennial Square.
Musicians will be assessed on broad appeal, technical expertise and talent, and will be adjudicated by City staff and local music professionals. Community programmer submissions will be assessed on quality and creativity of activities proposed, and a proven track record of similar programs in the community. Food trucks will be judged on menus and technical requirements for events.
Local talent and businesses interested can apply online and provide links to samples of their work or menus by by Jan. 31, 2018 at 4:30 p.m. Successful applicants will be contacted in early March, and late applications will be considered for 2019. Preference will be given to those in Greater Victoria.
