A bushy limb was snapped from a towering pine tree in a windstorm Wednesday morning along Cook Street in Victoria.

Davey Tree arborist spent part of the morning with chainsaws in hand clearing the downed branch from the sidewalk and front lawn of an apartment building. The tree experts tried but failed to pull the branch from power lines using sheer physical strength. The branch was eventually cut from the lines by an arborist lifted high up in a cherry picker bucket.

Victoria police were deployed to the scene, and blocked off a section of Cook Street between Oliphant Avenue and Chapman Street due to sagging power lines.
