Victoria woman fined for not filing income tax returns

Ling Zhu Ng was fined $3,000 and given one year to pay the fine.

Victoria resident, Ling Zhu Ng pled guilty in Victoria provincial court to three counts of failing to file her 2006 to 2008 personal income tax returns.

Ng was fined $3,000 and given one year to pay the fine. She was also ordered to file the outstanding returns by June 1.

When taxpayers are convicted of failing to file tax returns, in addition to any fines imposed by the courts, they must still file the returns and pay the full amount of taxes owing, plus interest owed, as well as any civil penalties that may be assessed by the Canada Revenue Agency.
