Inez Louis says the power of a story can bring communities together.
Louis, who hails from the Skowkale community and is a nurse, shared her thoughts on storytelling in the latest YouTube videos created in partnership with the Chilliwack Division of Family Practice and the Chilliwack Economic Recovery Network.
“Story is a powerful tool to connect with people,” Louis said, referring to how Indigenous people have shared stories over the decades years about the Spanish flu and small pox.
Louis is also strategic operations planner with the health department in the Sto:lo Service Agency.
“We now have stories of survival, stories of loss, and these stories transcend all religions all communities and they unite us together.
“I encourage you to find your own unique story and share that with the people around you.”
