RCMP said one person was taken to hospital, but had no further details to this incident.
City crews have shut off water to the fire hydrant.
Traffic in the two southbound lanes are closed at Skaha Lake Road and Waterford Avenue. Single lanes are open for north and southbound traffic, using the northbound lanes.

Traffic on Skaha Lake Road in Penticton was reduced to one lane north and southbound after a vehicle sheared off a fire hydrant at the intersection with Waterford Avenue just before 2:30 p.m. Wednesday

Emergency crews are on scene dealing with the traffic, and the city works department has just arrived on scene (2:30 p.m.) to shut down the hydrant, which was flooding the street.
