Julius (Nick) Csaszar is the People's Party of Canada candidate in Mission-Matsqui-Fraser Canyon

Julius (Nick) Csaszar, the People’s Party of Canada candidate in Mission-Matsqui-Fraser Canyon, sat down with The News for an interview Friday.

We asked him about immigration, multiculturalism and whether he’d actually privatize Abbotsford’s airport.

He also responded to a written questionnaire about his priorities and suitability for office. Find both below. For information on the boundary of the major local ridings, and information on other local candidates, click here.

1. Why are you personally running to be a member of Parliament?

Issues around affordability, shrinking wages and a lack of opportunities for young people have caused me to have grave concerns for the future of young families and seniors while those of us in the middle feel squeezed more and more as we support our children and our aging parents. Everyone’s answer seems to be a different version of more of the same. This has to stop. Canadians want, and deserve real change. I am here to fight for that, to fight for them.

2. What skills and attributes do you have that would make you a good elected representative for your constituents?

I have extensive private sector experience ranging from logistics to cost control, negotiations, mediation and conflict resolution. This is backed up by a lifetime of community service through several service organizations and initiatives. I have been a resident of Mission since 1978. I know the people and the landscape well.

3. What are the two biggest issues for your constituents in Abbotsford and how will you and/or your party address them?

Day to day affordability must be tackled through proven fiscal strategies that lower the tax burden for ALL people and lower costs on items such as fuel, cell phones, and groceries by eliminating taxation and unfair regulatory barriers that drive costs upwards and only protect corporations and special interest.

We must restore core duties of the federal government: Rule of law, policing, and the courts. These are federal responsibilities that must be bolstered to stem the rising tide of organized crime through proper funding for enforcement, and the courts. People deserve to be and feel safe.
