Surrey RCMP say a man has been arrested following a pepper spray incident on a Surrey bus Saturday night.

Police responded to reports of a fight at 7:45 p.m. near 140th Street and 90th Avenue.

A man allegedly pepper-sprayed another man who was boarding a Coast Mountain Bus. The driver and multiple passengers were pepper sprayed in the process, according to police.

“There was some altercation between some individuals, one individual pepper sprayed or bear sprayed another individual and as this person was getting on a bus or close to the bus, somehow some innocent bystanders were affected,” Surrey RCMP’s weekend watch commander told the Now. “(The individual) was pepper sprayed while he jumped on the bus. Several occupants of the bus were sprayed at the same time.”

While no suspect was found at the scene, police say a man has since been arrested.

A witness at the scene said firefighters and paramedics responded to treat the victim.
