A major thoroughfare through Aldergrove is closed this morning, following a fatal pedestrian crash.
The incident on 264th Street, at about 28th Avenue, occurred just after 7 a.m., confirmed Langley RCMP Cpl. Craig van Herk.
“BC Emergency Health Services attended and provided emergency care for the pedestrian, who has been transported to hospital where they succumbed to their injuries,” van Herk said.
He elaborated that the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.
“Speed or alcohol do not appear to be contributing factors,” van Herk said.
Emergency crews remain on scene investigating and are expected to be on scene for some time. That includes members of the Langley RCMP criminal collision investigation team and the integrated collision analysis and reconstruction service.
“At this time, it is expected that the investigation will be continuing for the majority of the day. 264th Street will remain closed to all traffic north/southbound during this period. Please use alternate routes during this time,” said the corporal.
“If you were in the area and witnessed anything or have information about the collision you are asked to contact the Langley RCMP,” van Herk concluded, offering the non-emergency telephone line of 604-532-3200.
