The event, which serves to kick off the gardening season, had dozens of vendors take part, selling plants of many varieties, seeds, preserves, tools and more.

After a snowy day for last year’s event, organizers were pleased to see the temperature up a bit and streets clear this year.

About 1,100 people attended the 2017 Seedy Saturday event, said chair of the Qualicum Beach Seedy Saturday committee Sue Putz. That number was surpassed this year by lunchtime, she said.

“We’re very pleased with what’s going on today,” said Putz.
