Surrey RCMP have released video surveillance of a suspect in a sexual assault that occurred just over a month ago.

On Friday January 27, 2012 at approximately 5:30 p.m., a 42-year-old woman was leaving her place of work for the day at Central City Mall at 10153 King George Blvd, and walked to her parked vehicle in the upper parking lot at the south end of the mall.

Once at her vehicle, she was approached from behind by an unknown male, who wrapped his arms around her upper body and covered her mouth with his hand.

The male suspect pushed the victim down face first into her open vehicle and proceeded to try and remove the woman’s clothing and sexually assault her. The woman managed to break free from the lone attacker and screamed for help causing the male suspect to flee on foot.

The male suspect is described as Caucasian, mid to late 20’s with an unshaven face. He is approximately 6’0″ with an average build and was wearing blue jeans, work shoes, and a dark coloured hoodie with a logo on the back that read “Canada” in white lettering. No marks, scars or tattoos were seen.

This is an isolated incident and the woman did not require medical attention. The Surrey RCMP would like to remind the public to be vigilant of their surroundings and potential vulnerability when alone.

Anyone with further information on this incident who has not already spoken to police is asked to contact the Surrey RCMP’s Child Abuse and Sex Assault Unit at 604-599-0502 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS if you wish to remain anonymous.
