Flames completely engulfed the structure on King Road on Aug. 1

An Abbotsford barn was destroyed in a large fire on Sunday morning.

Just after 5 a.m., Aug. 1, emergency crews from multiple fire halls responded to reports of the fire in the 32900 block of King Road, according to a source who attended the scene.

The flames had completely engulfed the structure and were seen shooting out from all sides; large plumes of smoke were visible from across the city, the source said.

Firefighters were able to protect the adjacent barns and nearby trees before the fire was able to spread, according to the source. He said no injuries were reported, and the cause is under investigation.

The source said a police officer informed him this was the third fire to occur over the night.
