Police and ambulance have responded to reports of a stabbing on Thursday afternoon

A 49-year-old Abbotsford man has been taken to a Vancouver-area hospital after a stabbing incident on Thursday afternoon.

At approximately 1:30 p.m., Abbotsford Police, Fire Rescue Services and B.C. Ambulance Services were called to the Kosmetae Academy of Spa Aesthetics and Hair Design, located at 32700 George Ferguson Way, by Gladwin Road.

A man was attacked and stabbed in his abdomen in the parking lot of the strip mall.

Looking for help, the victim made his way inside Kosmetae where staff quickly called 911.

The suspect in the stabbing fled the scene.

At approximately 4:45 p.m. police aprehended the suspect, a 32-year-old Abbotsford man.

MacDonald said both the victim and the suspect are known to police.

“From what we’ve been told, the two parties that were involved in the dispute know each other,” said MacDonald.

There is no word on the victim’s condition, but MacDonald said he was conscious and communicating with police.

He was airlifted to hospital.

There is no confirmation if the weapon used in the attack has been located.

A large section of the parking lot has been taped off by police, who continue to investigate the incident.
